Nokomis Collectibles
Owners, Susan Kolze and Bill Smith, are both stamp collectors. We started buying, selling, and producing First Day Covers in 1994. Nokomis Collectibles is a mail order business predominately selling online via our website and eBay.
The Nokomis in Nokomis Collectibles comes from our location on beautful Lake Nokomis in the City of Lakes, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nokomis means the daughter of the moon. Nokomis is the grandmother of Hiawatha in the famous Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem "Song of Hiawatha". Even though Longfellow never came to this area, his brother used his romantic notion of the Northwest to advertise real estate. Because of the popularity of the Epic Poem many of the names in Minneapolis can trace their origins to it.
Lake Nokomis is one of the seven lakes in Minneapolis. We are fortunate to overlook the lake from our office. After moving from Ohio, we named our business, Nokomis Collectibles, after this beautiful lake.
We are proud members of: ASDA, MSDA, APS, AFDCS, ATA, CPC, Minnehaha Stamp Club, JPA, APES, UNPI, CachetMakers.
